About Me

I began working with children while still a child myself, babysitting for neighbours from age 12 and becoming a junior camp leader at age 14.  I qualified as a teacher through post-graduate study, and have worked in education for over 25 years, mainly in Early Years since 2010.  As a trained designated safeguarding lead, I have a special interest in children living with vulnerability, adversity and/or trauma.  I have held roles in various sectors outside of education over the years, including child sexual exploitation and domestic abuse organisations.

I also work as a trainer, and have delivered courses for single agency and multi-agency audiences, as well as speaking at conferences and delivering interactive workshops around the country.  I have had articles published both online and in print for a variety of purposes, including several articles on child safeguarding for Optimus Education based in London.

Currently, I am commissioned part-time to work in early years for a Violence Reduction Unit, delivering a trauma-inclusive programme of work for children aged 3-5 years old.
